Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital. Goal and Characteristics This is a one-year fellowship in adult reconstructive spine surgery. The fellowship provides exposure to all aspects of adult reconstructive spinal surgery. The clinical experience includes all aspects of both nonoperative and operative treatment of a wide variety of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar disorders. There is ample opportunity for experience in pediatric and adult spinal deformity. The fellow will be expected to interact with and teach orthopaedic residents and medical students. The fellow will organize didactic teaching conferences. The fellow is expected to participate in a relevant clinical or basic science research project, culminating in one paper suitable for publication. All applicants must have successfully completed an ACGME accredited residency program in orthopaedic surgery, and be eligible to obtain a medical license and DEA certification in the state of Texas.
